I have read the poem " An Ancient Gesture" and the story "The Odyssey." The poem called " An Ancient Gesture" was made by Millard and the story " The Odyssey" by Homer. I will be explaining how the characters show their emotions.

In the poem "An Ancient Gesture," the narrator shows that she is sad by crying. She cries because her husband isn't back home from war. She remembers that Penelope from "The Odyssey" also did the gesture. She remembered that because Odysseus had been away for years , Penelope cried. They both missed their husbands, and that is why they cried. This gesture was authentic, antique, in the very best tradition, classic, Greek; Ulysses did this too.
