For the Ancient Greeks life after death was majorly impacted by the living. The Greeks “prepared for [the] burial [of the dead] according to the time-honored rituals” of the time and if there was any “omission to [the] burial” it was considered “an insult to human dignity,” (Department of Greek and Roman Art). There was three steps to the Greek burial process: Prothesis, the “laying out of the body,” Ekphora, the “funeral procession,” and finally cremation of the body (Department of Greek and Roman Art). The Greeks believe in Eusebia, “one’s duty to oneself, others, and the Gods which kept society on track,” and a part of Eusebia is “to remember [the dead] well, regardless of the life they had lived,” (Mark). It was believed that “immortality
