Andrea has a hard time with her outrageous eating habits. That when she binge eats she has no control over. Andrea struggles from Binge eating disorder. Binge eating disorder is a severe, life-threatening and treatable eating disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of eating large quantities of food (often very quickly and to the point of discomfort); a feeling of a loss of control during the binge; experiencing shame, distress or guilt afterwards; and not regularly using unhealthy compensatory measures (e.g., purging) to counter the binge eating. It is the most common eating disorder in the United States (Neda, 2016). It was identified that she had a problem, but no treatment was in place. Andrea and her mother repeatedly argued about her obsessive eating habits, and she didn’t like that. While growing up Andrea was picked on a lot, and was called “fatty” in grade school. So since then she’s never felt confident about herself. As noted Andrea would binge eat for periods of time, and her weight would range from 170 to 230 pounds. Andrea tried multiple weight loss diets. She tried weight watchers, diet magazines, and medications (prescribed and illicit). Andrea was down to an normal weight and after graduation and getting married she began over eating again. That caused arguments in her marriage, and eventually she was divorced. She tried therapy in her mid-20s and that was a night, and she continued to binge eat. Andrea has been going through a tough time, and never had positive supports in her life. Instead of her supports trying to help her through the problem they argued with her or left her. She did attempt therapy, and got bad advice about her eating habits. She was giving dieting
