Monster
Since reading “Monsters” by Andrew J. Hoffman there are many different meanings to the word monsters whether it be an ugly creature of our imagination or even a human being who has performed horrible acts. For instance, a bizarre figure or spirit can be labeled as a monster. Another example can be something that is large or mixed and has complete control to put fear in us. When making a monster a lot of time they merge it into a person that has animal parts. Bruce states, “Not men, part beast - Things” (Kawin 102). To a parent a monster may be a pervert, whereas to a football player they may describe their opponent who tackled them as a monster because of their size. One can try to describe the monster like we did when we were small with basic words. Such as color and size, how it acts or even emotions. Dreams sometimes reflect on how you are feeling in real life but we sometimes are too scared to admit it. Edgar Allen Poe states, “The scariest monsters are the ones that lurk within our souls” (Poe). Time has somewhat changed the meaning and what the word relates to. A monster is still an imaginary creature waiting under the bed, preparing to enter their dreams. But don’t let it slip your mind there are still real life monster that are lurking in the world. And most of the time they look like normal human beings, no one would ever suspect them. Everyone has a little bit of a monster in them some show it more than others while many keep it behind closed doors. According to Stephen King,“monsters are real, and ghost are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes they win” (King). Kings point is that, as life goes by we meet a variety of people who all have different feelings, experiences, thoughts, etc.. Sometimes outside energy can get to our heads and cause us to flip, which can lead us to open up a side we didn’t know we even had until it was
