¼ of the cherokee nation was wiped out by Andrew Jackson's policies. Andrew Jackson’s policies were very hurtful toward the native americans and the slaves. Andrew Jackson is a villain. He is a villain because he started the indian removal act, he believed in manifest destiny and he ignored the nullification crisis. The indian removal act decimated the indian population in a matter of years. The indian removal act was issued by Andrew Jackson when he was the president in 1830. The indian removal act sent the 5 civilized tribes west of the Mississippi river and those tribes were the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole. When the indian removal act was passed that was the chance for farmers in the south to expand slavery. They got more land when the indians were forcefully removed from their lands. During those years before and after presidency he killed thousands of Natives or he ordered people to kill them. The nullification crisis was a big deal to South Carolina. The government created a tariff to help northern american manufactures but, when they do this it hurts the South Carolina economy. South Carolina only made raw cotton and not finished goods so therefore this hurt the economy there. The tariff increased the cost of finished goods and decreased the demand for raw cotton. The nullification crisis made Jackson look like a king to the south because he supported the north to help them boom in the economy. Manifest destiny was a big promblem to the natives becaue they were forcefully removed from their homes so the whites could move in and take the good land.
