Andrew Jackson took his presidency for granted, he used his power as president to do harmful things that affected the the people of America. Jackson grew up in a poor family. He enlisted in the continental army at the age of 13. Growing up he always had an interest in law and politics, with this interest he became the 7th president of the united states in 1829. While Jackson was president he made some fatal mistakes that could've cost him his presidency. One of president Jackson's fatal mistakes was ignoring the results of the court case known as Worcester V. Georgia. The indian removal act -passed by Jackson- caused Worchester V. Georgia to happen. The indian removal act authorized the removal of native americans living east of mississippi to be moved to lands in the west. Worchester V. Georgia was the court case where the Cherokee tribe was sewing Georgia trying to stay. The supreme court ruled that the native americans are protected by the federal government and the constitution and don’t need to leave their lands if unnecessary. He used his powers as president to commit crimes. One act that Jackson made was ignoring the Worcester V. Georgia case. He used military forces to make sure the indians walked and did not run away. Jackson said in his letter to the seminoles “I have ordered a large military force to be sent among them.” He also said “But should you listen to the bad birds that are always flying about you and refuse to move, I have directed the commanding officer to remove you by force.” Jackson used the military to move the indians by force. Also by ignoring Worcester V. Georgia that ruins the whole purpose of Checks and Balances. Checks and Balances makes sure no branch of government is too powerful and each branch can veto laws passed by the legislative
