In Exceptional Leadership, authors Carson F. Dye and Andrew N. Garman identifies four cornerstones models which consist of 16 competencies or skills that makes an outstanding healthcare leaders. The four cornerstones are: 1) well-cultivated self-awareness 2) compelling vision 3) real way with people 4) masterful style of execution. The drive for growth requires effective leadership and emotional intelligence plays an important role, as emotional intelligence can be learned and harnessed. Effective leaders pay attention to emotional intelligence and engage others to achieve desired results.
