Susanna Wilkerson Dickinson and her daughter Angelina were among the few survivors of the Battle of the alamo. She made many claims, and was one of the key witnesses of the battle. She and her daughter were very brave through the entire journey.
Susanna was born in Tennessee, sometime in the year 1814 (Historians know little to none about her upbringing). Historians do however know, that she was brought up illiterate. At age 15, Susanna met Almeron Dickinson, and they were wed on May 24th, 1829. From that the couple settled and opened up a blacksmith shop. On December 14th, 1834, Susanna’s first and only child Angelina Dickinson was born.
After the battle of gonzales, at the start of the Texas Revolution, Almeron volunteered and set off for San Antonio. She remained home until November, and reunited with her husband in San Antonio most likely sometime in December of the year 1835. Susanna her daughter and husband however only moved into the Alamo on February 23rd, 1836, where Almeron fought and sadly died.

Because she was illiterate they do not have any written statements, however they do have oral statements. She made several witness accounts, including that she had seen the dead body of Davy Crockett, and Jim Bowie. A skeptical claim was made that Sam Houston offered to adopt Angelina from Susanna, and have her sent to school in Mexico, and that Susanna declined the offer. However, many legitimate claims were recorded including that, there were minimal casualties before the final assault at the alamo, that she hid in a chapel and did not see the battle, and that after the battle she apparently went mad and was crying for days.
