Animal cruelty should not take place if men truly understand the command to be caretakers of the earth. Humans are to control the numbers of animals, so disease and sickness do not kill them off; humans are to use the animals for their needs; humans also are to control animals in a manner in which they are not harmful to humans; and finally people should protect them from over-killing and abuse. The problem lies in the fact that many do not understand the balance and tend to over-protect and under-protect animals. Animals were created for humans to enjoy, so protecting a remnant for others to enjoy is also proper. Puppy mills is probably one of the top most common cases of animal abuse, although people don’t see it as this. If humans truly understood they’d agree. Puppy mills are large-scale commercial dog breeding operations that put greater priority on profits rather than the health of the puppies. Many dogs that are bred into this, are plagued with illness like kidney and heart diseases. It’s a facility that focuses on increasing profit with little overhead cost, and the health and welfare of these animals are not a priority, they focus on greed rather than the love they need to give. Another thing is when a human breeds a female dog, they breed the dog every time she is in heat, and for instance, a five year old dog could have given birth to ten litters of puppies. Every year, retail pet stores across sell five-hundred thousand dogs, while five to seven million dogs enter a shelter? Why bred more and let them grow in an unhealthy environment when humans can home the animals that are in need of
