With brisk swiping of stray eraser shavings off of my paper and a smile of satisfaction on my onlookers faces and my very own, my outlook on life changed. I thought to myself, I could really be something. Born April 1st of 1995, I was a child that never tried to stand out. Shy and introverted, my room became a sanctuary. The quiet and isolation of it all still sticks with me today. Growing up, the only time I would speak confidently was if anyone asked me what I wanted to be. I would never have a fleeting moment; I wanted to be a veterinarian. Animals meant the world to me and became all I was ever fond of. Nothing could deter me from this dream of "saving all of the earth's creatures", that is until I was bitten for the second time by my very own golden retriever named Lady. I would then realize that my love of animals was just a mixture of my weakness for cute things and pity for creatures who couldn't defend themselves, or so I thought. …show more content…
Feeling a lack of eminence, I made it my mission to find something else that I could relate to besides animals. At the age of 12 with nothing else to do , I grabbed a friend's book and took it home with me. It was the first time I had ever seen a "manga" book or Japanese comic book. The euphoria seemed endless. The well-balanced story and the visual effects were all so new to me. The characters had varying personalities that made American cartoons look insubstantial in comparison. Something compelled me to try to make my very own addition to the book. The overwhelming possibilities of what personas this character would be composed of arose my passion for art. Everyday I would draw this character over and over, each day becoming more and more satisfied. Though even with the final version complete, I was restless.
