Should animals be used in medical research?

Over the years, very large amount of animals has been tested and used for medical research in Australia. Some people say animals should not be used for research and some say they should be used for medical research. Animal medical research is the use of animals in scientific research. It helps them to understand diseases that afflict animals and humans. Animals are also used for experiments to test new treatments for animal and human disease, for e.g. New medicines or surgical techniques.

Animals will benefit from this because animals don't have to suffer and sacrifice but if animal research was banned in Australia, many humans have to suffer because scientists use animals to test new Medicines, antibiotics and vaccines. If scientists don't research them, they won't be able to help any of us and them selves. Their could be any type of new disease that could affect the population in Australia and the world. Some people think that animal medical research is illegal and some think it is legal. Apparently, this site (aboutanimaltesting.co.uk) says that "animal testing is legal but their are very strict regulations as to what can and cannot be done to the animals". Almost 56% of people are aware that animals are used for medical research in Australia. Around 60% of people said they do not know that humans have rights to experiment on animals. Many don't believe that it is always safe to transfer results from animal research to apply to humans. It could be dangerous because if scientists make a new medicine or vaccine and it works on animals but fails on human. It could be harmful to humans and
