In the beginning of the book, Anita Hill describes her life in the Deep South. She had grown up the youngest of thirteen siblings, and her family was very religious. They lived on a farm In Oklahoma. There were many racial tensions during the time. For example, there were many lynchings as well as flat out harsh racism. As for schooling, she attended an integrated high school, received perfect grades, graduated as valedictorian, class secretary, and was a national honor society student. After high school, she attended Oklahoma state university for psychology. She later received an internship with a local judge, which led her to her interest in law. She had worked hard and went after her dreams of getting admitted in to Yale University
