“Despite everything, people are really good at heart,” was a quote from Anne Frank during the Holocaust; maybe some people are, maybe they aren’t. The Holocaust was a very devastating time in the 1940’s and it took many people’s lives. Now because of the Holocaust some people may think that despite everything, people really aren’t good at heart. Then some really believe and say no matter what there is some good in everyone. One great example of everyone having some good in them is back during the Holocaust when the Nazi soldiers were forced to invade the homes of countless Jews and have them sent to camps. In the movie, The Book Thief, this scene shows Papa getting called up to go serve with the Nazi soldiers. Papa did not believe what Hitler was doing was right but if he refused to go they would have taken and possibly killed him and his family so in order to keep his family safe he had to go away with the soldiers (The Book Thief). The Holocaust website also shows some information on this topic, “Despite the indifference of most Europeans and the collaborations of others in the murder of Jews during the Holocaust individuals in every European country and from all religious backgrounds risked their lives to help Jews” (Rescue). Also, from the book, Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl on page 85 it states, “Meip is just like a pack mule, she fetches and carries so much. Almost everyday she manages to get ahold of some vegtables for us and brings everything in shopping bags on her bicycle” (Frank). The Holocaust was a very tragic time but we also have people putting their lives on the line in order to save another. Again, these are all great things that do go against Hitler that could get you in trouble but the people with good in their heart know what’s
