In my lifetime, I have experienced two extremes: the inability to communicate with anyone, and the ability to share my thoughts with people worldwide. There are countless reasons why the latter is the only way I can now imagine living my life.

When I was only 19 months old, I contracted a mystery illness. It stole my sight, hearing, and, temporarily, my happiness. From this point until the age of seven, I was trapped. I was entirely confined to only the thoughts inside my head, and there was no way I could connect with others. These less-than-unfortunate circumstances caused me to be confused and pushed me past the point of frustration. On my own, I was defeated.
