The Society during the early Renaissance in Europe to Contemporary Society

Introduction How has the society changed from the times of the Renaissance to today’s contemporary society? Has society evolved based on the historical past or is it repeating itself? To understand the Renaissance society, let’s start with understanding the meaning behind it, the word “Renaissance” comes from Italian word rinascita which means “rebirth” (Sayre, 2012, pg. 207). The Renaissance originated in the 14th Century and its beliefs were quickly spread throughout Italy. Structure and the use of words has been spread widely since the Renaissance period throughout the modern-day society. Today’s contemporary society has been influenced by the development of the Renaissance society and its historical discoveries.

Throughout the history of society feasts have been celebrated with a considerate amount of drinks. Tlusty mentioned that historian have “rediscovered inns, taverns and alehouses as multifunctional centres and richly documented microcosms of pre-modern societies” (pg.133) for the last two decades. Tlusty investigated modern attitudes of society as well as studies of the effects of both mental and physiological impact alcohol has on individuals. She particularly focused on the reaction individuals had towards authority. In comparison to modern society, alcohol is still symbolized as a celebration, in which many cases now for some becomes a problem.
