The Antebellum Period could be described as an injustice, cruel, and dehumanizing time period. Children were forced to work, property could only be owned by white males, women and other racial groups were not allowed to vote, and slave ownership was expanded tremendously. For the most part, reform movements between 1825-1850 helped to shape the democratic ideals in the United States. To begin with, social reform is a kind of movement that is designed to make a progressive change. More specifically, it helps to make a change in certain “issues” in society, rather than foundational changes.
