Victimology is a logical investigation of the physical, monetary, and emotional damage individuals endure on the account of unlawful activity (Karmen, 2016). Researchers who study victimology can take a few different approaches when reviewing and studying victims of crimes. One of those perspectives or approaches would be an anthropological approach. If we are looking at stabbings a question a researcher may ask, do third world countries have a higher stabbing rate then developed countries? Another question that could be asked is do stabbing victims receive sufficient justice and treatment in those countries compared to developed countries. The researchers look at the past to get a better perspective of today. They may look at and research specific trends and developments of stabbings in the past and follow those trends to where we are today. Researchers may ask if over the years have stabbing that relate to domestic violence increased? Another question may be because of our current access to guns today have the number of domestic related stabbing decreased over time? Developing an answer to these questions would look at past topics and trends that lead up to where we are today.
The last perspective we are reviewing is the economic impact of the unlawful activity (Karmen, 2016). Related to stabbings a victimologist may question what is the average medical cost is associated with a stabbing victims physical and physiological damage? We may also ask What is the victims’ cost associated with loss of time at work and rehabilitation throughout the criminal justice process and criminal proceedings in their cases? Researchers try to research any losses, associated costs, and expenses that may cost a victim due to a crime that was conducted against their person or
