Around 100 BCE in Greece, a complex machine able to indicate the position of the sun and moon, lunar phases, and even eclipses was created; and it was also believed to track the path of certain planets. This machine was called the Antikythera Mechanism. It was drowned in the sea and forgotten for almost 2,000 years until divers recovered the device in a shipwreck off the Greek island of Antikythera in 1901. The machine showed data on both sides.
