A part of my AP Government class involves discussing current political events surrounding other countries’ governments to understand the American government and its own politics better. However, little knowledge of world events limited myself and my classmates’ discussions on our thoughts and how we would act to solve the problems. This prompted me to ask my friends if we shared the same setback caused by lacking awareness of the world outside our daily experiences. We concluded that this was a concurring problem throughout most of our classes in which we discuss current events. Thus, we aspired to solve this obstacle by creating our school’s first Model UN club.
