Based on the Module 11 lecture, Aponte used the structural family principles: “help members develop a mutual understanding, joined in with all members, was quickly let in on the issue they all were having, addressed high affective intensity due to their emotions, developed a provisional hypothesis early in the relationship, and there was a sharing competence” (Davis, 2015). These structural family principles were done within the session, because Aponte understood the different perspectives of Pam, her mother, Judy, and her Father. When observing the session, they all let Aponte be part of the session to offer advice, suggestions, and guidance. Aponte was easily informed about each person’s problems without any hesitation. Each person had their own problems that needed changes, so there can be a balance within the family. At first there was a lack of communication and understanding between Pam and her mother, Judy. The father was affected by the way Judy was being treated by Pam. After a while during the family session it became clear of what each person wanted, including the father. Pam gets angry when she does not get her way, and is a spoiled brat, as stated by Pam. Judy wants Pam to help her when it comes to making breakfast, cleaning afterwards, and respect from Pam. As for the father, he wants Pam to treat her mother, Judy, the same way as she treats him. Everything was addressed in the session, and they all decided to do what is need for the respect of what each person wanted from the other, and themselves. Pam will work on helping and respecting her mother, and to live and be treated as an adult. Judy will remember to ask Pam questions on things that are relevant to see as a way if Pam is answering as a child or grown adult. Lastly, as told by Aponte, the father will keep the relationship him and Pam has, only if their relationship is the same between Pam and
