Motivation is what the drive that pushes you forward. Fortunately Human beings are naturally in need of something, or are unsatisfied. That is to say that they constantly urge to fill the gap between what they are and what they wish they could be. Thus, we are conditioned to constantly look for the force that will get us where we want to. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs ranges our natural set of goals from the physiological ones to our wish of self­actualization.
That is to say it ranks them from the most basic needs ­ nutritive, shelter, sleep ­ to more individualistic needs like social recognition, the idea of self­esteem or morality. And once one step is reached, the next one is already what every individual is aspiring for.
Yet even if our constant state of dissatisfaction facilitates our willingness to permanently move forward, work remains a constraint that many only see as a way to get what they want. Work is the effort they need to make to move from their actual state, to their desired one. Indeed McGregor's XY theory explains how team managers have to consider their workers as people who inherently hate their job and will do everything to avoid unless they find what reward or solution that will trigger his employees’ ambition, self­motivation or their sense of duty. Once the right tools of motivation are used, the workers are grateful and feel like giving back to their employers.
And Apple and Google have both understood that their employees are the asset of the company, therefore they put in extra effort to motivate their employees.

Apple vs Google The battle of corporate cultures. Both firms emphasize their management system on creating corporate cultures, where each member is recognized for being excellent at what they are paid to do. On one hand there are the Googlers: brilliant, determined and polyglot workers from all over the world employed to provide the best and quickest browsing experience to the user of Google behind their computers. And on the other hand you have Apple workers, who are also specialized in what they do. As a matter of fact, when Steve Jobs was still alive, the fact of employing only A­level workers was his priority. Indeed Apple’s mission is to deliver the simplest mobile and computer devices, and providing such easy­to­use products asks more work. You have to put yourself in the consumers’ shoes, and ask yourself why you’re getting this result and how you can make it better. They have to create something that they would want to buy. First they have to amaze themselves, and then they amaze the world.
Whether you work for Apple or Google, the managers understood that the best way to get things done is to make feel their worker that they belong in a special corporate unite where they are recognize as the best of what they do.
