Graduating Applegate Elementary was overwhelming. A relief that after attending my third Elementary school I was finally graduating and excited to attend Ockley Green Middle school. I woke up earlier than normal so I could get my hair pressed for the first time. I remember picking out a black dress with a black and white Sunflower top with black and white converse. The doorbell rung and as I approached I could hear my friends chanting “Applegate, Applegate, Applegate.” I felt so anxious to get to school. We chanted “Applegate, Applegate, Applegate” all five blocks. It was routine to gather in the front of the school until the bell rung, but we rushed through the double doors to the cafeteria so we could eat breakfast as if that would speed …show more content…
My two aunts, my little cousin, and my uncle had all came to see me graduate. All the students we able to mingle with family and friend until It was time to line up and walk across the gym in front of our peers, teachers, friends and family. Graduation had started we were lined up in the hallway. You could hear laughing, gum popping, and of course everyone was talking. As the principal called our names we walked through the cafeteria doors down the aisle with chairs for our family and friends on each side. As I waited in line I became nervous. Before I knew it I heard the principal call my name. I walked through the double doors of the cafeteria and down the aisle with my head held high. I approached the principal all I could hear was “Woohoo, Woohoo Alice Great job.” I had the biggest smile on my face and felt so loved, but at the same time embarrassed. After I grabbed my certificate I turned left to walk around back out the cafeteria. It slipped my mind that we were to walk out the side door and go back to the front of the school. With nobody to guide us in the right direction a few students tried to go back out the way we came in making quite a scene by running into other students coming in to receive their
