One of the most important days in American history took place in one town. Igniting the fuse that set off a revolution; a major event in not only American history, but and major feat that was unheard of and that is revered by many countries. This ignition is the battle of Lexington. It was “the shot heard around the world” (Emerson), starting on April 19th of 1775, we will never know who started the war. Was if the British red coats or the militia who shot first? April morning gives us an interesting view on who could have started the revolutionary war. Both the movie and book present the gun shot, among other things, in very different ways. So which one presented the material better, the book or the movie? It is commonly said that the books are always better than the movies, and that might be because of the fact that a book can include more material in it. So in the case of April Morning, what make the book better that the movie? It might be because of what important parts the movie left out, not how much material they left out. With him not being in the movie it takes away a big part of the book and how Adam changes as a character from a kid to a father figure. There are minor things that change without Levi, but they are things that aren’t that don’t impact the story. For example, in the chapter titled “The Night”, the rider that warns everyone that there are soldiers coming, Levi tells Moses instead of Adam in the movie. This doesn’t do much to change the story, but these are the little differences that there are without Levi. The one thing that is almost ruined without Levi is that we don’t see Adam turn from a kid into a Father figure.
