During the 1900s immigration took over the world. There were countless reasons for coming to the U.S. The U.S provided more higher paying jobs, many educational opportunities, tons of industrial growth (OI). Many immigrants viewed coming to America as a better life. Irish immigrant Catherine Moran McNamara once said, “Every war England had she had you pay her part, even though you just had nothing, and you had to pay on your land some expenses of it” (Doc. 2). Miss McNamara had a tough time with the English taxes. The Irish faced many hardships including paying the numerous taxes and the Potato Famine during the late 1800s (Doc.1). The news of immigrating to America for a better life was a widespread topic all throughout Europe and Asia.
