I currently finished 2/3 of the book, "The Book of Negroes" and you can easily identify many archetypes throughout the novel. The characters in this novel can be comparable to archetypal character. To begin, this novel could be classified as a hero's story.

Amanita is the hero of the story because she is willing to help others throughout her travels, by teaching others to read and write, while still having so much on her mind. I also think that Georgia and Amanita's mother are classified as the 'The Great Mothers' because they had a huge impact on Amanita's life. This is because she helps Max throughout their journey and keeps him a secret. Hans Huberman is similiar to Georgia because she is seen as a mentor or motherly figure for Liesel by teaching, guiding and supporting Liesel as the novel
