In this essay, I will argue that sweatshops are not immoral because they reduce the rate of unemployment and help the national economy. Further, I will show that the strongest objection to this claim, namely that sweatshops exploit workers fails. Although sweatshops are frequently vilified because of the awful working conditions with long hours and minimum compensation, they should not be banned since they pose numerous advantages to the community. It creates employment opportunities which would otherwise be unavailable and implicitly improves the quality of their life. For instance, a recent study by Yale University stated that girls who live closer to garment factories in Bangladesh particularly benefit from these sweatshops. It was found that these girls were 28% less likely to get married and 29% less likely to get pregnant while they were underage than an average Bangladeshi girl. This proves that the employment created by the garment factory, in spite of its low-wages, helped the girls become independent at a young age and reject child marriages. Secondly, sweatshops aid to reduce global poverty. Despite of the fact that businesses generate more profits by outsourcing labor and employing people
