Are We Too Dependent On Technology In Fahrenheit 451

In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, people in the novel live in a dystopian society in which reading books has become illegal. The things the people believe in has been twisted around, and those who act differently are either taken from their homes and taken to insane asylums, or they run away and live outside of the cities. Guy Montag started out being just like everyone else in his society, he starts out a firefighter and loved what he was doing, but then something changes. His eyes are opened by a young girl who looks at the world differently, and this makes Montag start to view the way he sees the world in a different way as well. Ray Bradbury accurately depicted that people now are too dependent on technology, people read fewer books each year, and people have become less able to communicate with each other. In Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury has the people too dependent on the technologies of that time they are in. He also predicted that people in the future would become this way as well, and he was right. Now people will use their phones as a way to talk to each other, a way to see each other through FaceTime, and even texting to tell people that they are there instead of actually going and knocking on the door. People need to put down the technology, get out into the world again, and talk to people rather than sit inside and text. Read a book in your free time, go over to a friends house and actually have a conversation with them, or just put down the technology and go on a walk and be in nature. Ray Bradbury accurately predicted a lot of things about what has happened from the time he wrote the book until now.
