I chose this song because it was a perfect example of women’s power back in 1967. Rock and Roll had a new female sound that produced a string of hits Aretha Franklin’s song "Respect" was one of them. I think this song painted the perfect image of how most women were feeling in the 1960s but sadly most of the women were afraid to say anything to their husbands' about how they were being treated and how they felt about life in general.

You don't have to dig far to find the emotions and feelings in this song and to understand them. For example, in the first stanza, she is telling her significant other that she has everything he could want and need. But all she wants is a little respect from him w hen he gets home. She knows that she is amazing
