End Bull Fighting

Content
Bullfighting has been a traditional festivity for hundreds of years in Spain, but many are now protesting the idea of it. Spaniards began to protest after the anti-bullfighting party was able put a ban on La Corrida de Toros. The protest in Madrid is considered to be the biggest anti-bullfighting rally up to date. Opposers to bullfighting say bullfighting should not be a national representation to Spain, as it involves cruelty and torture towards animals, all for the sake of entertainment. This has led to certain cities in Spain banning parts of the festival, such as a popular ending in which a bull is killed by spearmen. But Aficionados are not giving up their fight.

Although the Games do not include the killing or cruelty toward animals, they have similar situations. For example, opposers to bullfighting see it as a bad representation of Spain, and it is no longer a big asset to their economy as it once was, even though it has traditionally been a big part of their culture. Opposers to the Olympic Games in Rio believe that it’s an honor to be able to host, but they did not have the right conditions or the money to be able to have the Games. There are pros to both situations, but it doesn’t come without issues.

Confusions
1. What is the big attraction to bullfighting in the first place? Why is it such a big tradition to harm and, in most cases, ultimately kill animals>

2. How would defenders of the bulls feel about still hosting the running of the bulls, just not the part within the arena? It is obviously much safer for both the bulls and the people, so it could potentially be a medium for the two sides.

3. If Spain were to ban all bullfighting events in general, would this create an even bigger issue within their country? Could it lead to more protests, because they are taking away a part of their culture and tradition?
