When driving on any road, highway or freeway in America you’ll find a fast-food restaurant at every turn, service drive and exit, Fast Food has drastically impacted the nutritional health of Americans over the past few generations. When walking through any supermarket you’ll see already prepared foods that only take a matter of minutes to cook and its ready to be served. Gone are the days of Americans cooking meals from scratch, there is approximately only one–third of Americans that cook with fresh ingredient daily. Americans in 1960 would spend up to 2-1/2 hours cooking fresh food daily now Americans only spend thirty minutes cooking and preparing dinner. There are approximately one-quarter of Americans eat in a fast-food restaurant each day, three times a day. Why are American eating so much fast food? The answer is very simple, it’s fast and convenient. The price that Americans are paying to receive food in a matter of minutes comes with a huge price to our health and quality of living. One of first reason that Americans are eating more fast food is that America has become a two income family, there are more than two- thirds of the household in America with both parents working and going to school, this makes it obvious to why Americans are choosing to pick up fast food on the way home instead of preparing freshly cooked meals, there is little to no time at all to go food shopping and to prepare a freshly cooked meal. The second reason that in the past fifty years there have been great inventions to help Americans with their busy life styles such as: microwave ovens, restaurants, precooked food, prepacked food, drive-thru and TV dinner.
