Some stories have been told by cultures for centuries. Some creation stories focus on “one powerful god, starting in darkness, and chaos.” This focus of the creation stories revealed the beliefs of the culture. In creation stories of some cultures the world was dominated by one main god. The similarities of these gods reveals the beliefs in their culture. God creates everything by speaking it into existence. He is the only one that creates the earth, animals and humans. “Then God said, ‘let there be light’ and there was light. God saw that the light was good and god divided the light from darkness” (1-3) In the genesis story, the creation of earth by God emphasizes that God is everything and all of his creations, especially the living, must honor him and appreciate him for his work. After the death of Pan Gu, his body is divided and every little piece of him becomes part of the earth, sky and life.”When Pan Gu died, his breath became the wind and clouds...body and limbs formed the five big mountains...fleas and lice from his body became the ancestors of mankind.”(1,2,7,8) In the Chinese creation story, the fact that the natural elements come from the body parts of Pan Gu illustrates the natural works as “god-like.” Also, we must show respect to the world because it is made from Pan Gu. Eros only creates the earth and sky. Everything else is created by acts of nature. “In the beginning there was an empty darkness. The only thing in this void was Nyx...she laid an egg...out of it rose Eros.”(1,2) In the Greek story, the fact that Eros creates the earth and sky only and allows everything else to happen on it’s own. This represents that nature is allowed to evolve on its own and everything takes place naturally without a deity.

God makes light appear by speaking it into existence. “Then God said, ‘let there be light’ and there was light. God saw the light was good and divided the light from darkness.”(1-3) In the Genesis creation story, the fact that there is a powerful god who brings light and life to the darkness creates an awe-inspiring presence for the culture that tells the story. The God is revealed as incredibly powerful and one to be worshiped. There is an empty void, but the void has a very powerful and magical potential of creation. “In the beginning there was a void. And the void was called Ginnungagap...Yawning Gap, gap with magical potential, mighty gap.”(1-2) In the Norse creation story, the empty void represents that in the start of some
