According to The Free Dictionary adoption is defined, as the act of taking legal responsibilities as parent of a child that is not one’s biological child. Although according to every parent that has been through this will agree that adoption is so much more. Adopting a child is something that will change your life forever and give a parent that might not be able to have children the chance to be a parent. My mom is a graduate from Columbia with a master’s degree and has been the parent of an only child for twelve years. She said “At fifteen years old I was told that I would not be able to have children and I always knew I had wanted a family, so adoption was always an option.” There are many people in the same boat that my mom was in, and to give these people the opportunity to be apart of something bigger and to experience things they never would have experienced is a life changer.

Let me just put this right out there, adoption is a lot of work especially older kids who have already had their foundation laid.
