We have all seen our great president Abraham Lincoln on our 5 dollar bill because he is remembered as one of our great founding fathers. On the other hand is it kind of wrong to put such a great president on such a useful piece of currency? Like actually think about it..do we really need change worth so little? Some say yes, some say no what does the actual government think? What does the country of America think? In my opinion, pennies have helped many great causes such as charity events because they can use all the money they are given. Second, they also keep prices low because if pennies didn’t exist they would round taxes to the nearest nickel instead of the nearest cent. For example, say you wanted to buy something for the dollar menu from Mcdonalds. Of course, it would not cost a dollar it would really cost $1.06, but if it never existed it would most likely cost $1.10 and it might not sound like a lot, but it adds up after awhile. Furthermore, it costs the government money because obviously a penny is one cent, but it cost 1.7 cents to make a penny in the first place.
