Americans have the right to bear arms. This statement has been a fact since September 1789. Yet starting in 1934 authorities have been restricting gun usage, and now some American authorities and citizens want to ban guns altogether. If guns are taken from U.S. citizens they will not only be in further danger but not to mention even if guns are all banned and confiscated there is no way to know they are all gone out of America. Typical gun owners, who are usually hunters and defensive Americans, do not ever intend on injuring another human. Although firearms are the leading violence weapon, it would cause more controversy if they are taken. If they are taken, knives would then become the leading murder weapon. Americans will be in even more danger if firearms are banned because people will no longer feel a sense of security. Since England banned all handguns, gun violence has spiked (Wilson). Australian authorities stated that, “they could never be sure all guns are out of Australia” (England). This backs up the statement that Americans could never be sure all guns are fully taken up. Hypothetically, if every single gun were to be taken then what would the military use to fight for our country? Who can be assured that a criminal would not steal one, people who cannot purchase them will steal them (Wilson). Let us not forget there would be nothing preventing military forces from giving firearms to the public people to cause harm.
