Argumentative Essay: Miss California's Failed Photos

I heard this story before a couple years ago, but I did not know the details to Miss California’s leaked photos. I had to look at another article to confirm that she did lose her crown because of the leaked pictures. My first reaction to this article was “Well, according to the Miss California USA director, the contract was clear.” But the same time, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, didn’t take those photos during her time as Miss California. According to her, these pictures only surfaced as revenge after she said she didn’t believe in gay marriage. Even though I am a gay marriage supporter, I do not believe she should have been attacked for her comments. I certainly do not think that it was necessary for someone to leak topless pictures of her when she was a minor. Do I think that Prejean should sue whoever leaked the photos? Again, I looked up to see if Miss California was stripped of her crown, and according to a Fox News article that was posted in June 2009 it said that she was fired as Miss California. It was said that the decision was not based on the comments she made, but the fact that she violated the contract. But people who are gay rights supporters are giving her hell for her comments, such as blogger Perez Hilton. If I was following the story closely, I would probably be more upset that she had nude pictures of herself than her comments on gay marriage. I say this because many young girls look up to Miss USA contestants. So it would make sense to feel more outraged for a contestant to have naked pictures of herself. I would also feel more outraged considering that Prejean claims she was a minor when she took the pictures, so I definitely wouldn’t want any little girls to look up to her.
