Background The United States of America has been founded on immigrants that were looking for freedom, and opportunities to succeed. Every year the United States’ department of homeland security legally accepts around 1 million of people. However, it has been established that between illegal immigrants that just cross the borders the amount mounts to 4 million (Dye, 2016, 227). Due to the increase of undocumented immigrants who have been able to either stay illegally, cross the border without any legal documents or have an overstay visa. Nonetheless, the current president, Donald Trump, cancelled the program (CNN, 2017). DACA’ s cancellation has brought the immigration topic to the senate, and it has become a point of contention between the two main political parties integrating the senate. Based on that, the majority of analysis or research done in this domain has been mainly focused on the particular requisites that DACA recipients should fulfill I order to apply or not. However, there are areas where this topic has not been fully explored such as the socio-economic profiles of those young beneficiaries of the DACA program. Who are DACA’s beneficiaries? Are they pursuing higher education?
Research Objective The main purpose of this research project is to establish primary socio-economic characteristics of DACA’ s recipients as well as determine its economical contribution to different government institutions in the USA. The research project will also attempt to increase researcher’s knowledge by widen the perception of what DACA recipients usually achieve personal success by enhancing its knowledge, and achieving economic success while contributing to society.
