The idea of the ICD-10 being used in every hospital around the world as been around for few years before the law was passed, and it was thought to bring so many benefits to the healthcare field, although a few healthcare professionals don’t approve, it does have the potential to provide better data for evaluating and improving the quality of patient care. It offers Complete, accurate, and up-to-date procedure codes it will improve data, efficacy, and costs of new medical technology and ensure fair reimbursement policies for the use of this technology. When the ICD-10 was first made the United States was not the first to start implementing the use of ICD-10–based classification system, I believe the reason we didn’t switch to this is because we didn’t want to spend billions of dollars on the updated technology, but in my option the U.S spends so much money on unnecessary things we need to focuse on the more…show more content… The people that will be using this law would be physicians, nurses, other providers, researchers, health information managers and coders, health information technology workers, policy-makers, insurers and patient organizations. World Health Organization states that “ICD has been translated into 43 languages and it is being used by all member States. Most countries (117) use the system to report mortality data, a primary indicator of health status” the new ICD-10 will improve national healthcare initiatives such as Meaningful Use, value-based purchasing, payment reform and quality reporting.
