Recently, President Donald Trump signed a law that targets the funding for Planned Parenthood. If the government decides to cut funding from Planned Parenthood, millions of women and families will be without healthcare. Planned Parenthood not only offers services to women, but also families in general. Most citizens are uneducated about the benefits and services they offer. A wide belief throughout America is that Planned Parenthood only offers abortion services; however, women use these clinics for care such as contraception, general check ups, Pap tests, and pregnancy care. Funding has not been completely stopped, but is in imminent danger. While Planned Parenthood does offer abortions and abortion referrals, the other services they offer are tremendously helpful to health and the education of women. If women show up to Planned Parenthood without health insurance, Planned Parenthood will apply a discount to make sure that the visit is affordable. Some services that are offered include Pap tests, cervical cancer tests, breast exams, and UTI testing and treatment. An important service is providing contraception.
