A school is a place where you as a parent, teacher or child is expectant to feel safe. No one expects the unexpected to occur. December 14, 2012 marked the deadliest school shooting in US history. On this day at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, 20 children as well as 6 adult lives were taken in this horrific event. Following this event, were several other fatal school shootings, crippling within the past few years in the US. This nation has experienced tragedy after tragedy within the school systems. In result, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, along with the National Rifle Association, have recently proposed the idea of teachers being trained and permitted to carry firearms throughout the schools. They strongly feel as though "highly trained" teachers whom are armed can resolve these incidents in a more quickly and realistic manner then law enforcement officials. During a video interview with CNN news, a "guardian program" was introduced at a small school in Callisburg. This program allows teachers to carry guns inside the school as well as trains them for active shooter attacks. The superintendent of the school, Steve Clugston, says he is sure his staff is completely prepared for an active shooter attack and can act on reprimanding the shooter without hesitation. However, this is false because a teacher is not trained on a level as high as law enforcement to act on these types of situations. It takes an immense amount of time to become mentally prepared for events as such. One cannot say they will be prepared unless they have had the equip amount of training and preparedness for this event. Again, this is too much of a responsibility to be left on a
