Most sexual assault cases are not rightfully prosecuted because the victim is the one being blamed, the perpetrator uses money in any way, and the judge criticizes the victim for her actions past or present. Sexual assault is one of many crimes that go unreported in the U.S. Sexual assault not only damages the victim physically but also mentally and socially. While the perpetrator also receives punishment, it most time is not nearly as bad as what the victim could go through. In some cases, the victim is the one receiving the punishment through social brutality or mental imprisonment. Some victims will not even report the assault do to what the outcome could be. Even though many sexual assault cases are not reported because victims are often not believed, every sexual assault is a crime and all those involved are greatly affected by it. No victim asks to be raped or sexual assaulted. Therefore, they should not be blamed for being put in that situation. There are case where the perpetrator is some sort of doctor. This shows that the victim is really the one getting the punishment for crime she didn’t ask to be a part of. As a result of this many future victims won’t come forward fearing that they will also receive the same
