I open snapchat, a popular temporary image and video sharing app, the familiar yellow backdrop brightens my face only to have the cute white ghost disrupt my view. Soon the yellow screen disappears the screen was filled with an image of my feet. With a laugh I swipe past the camera only to see the recent events of my friends, and popular tends; everything from the dogs in Halloween Costumes to the 2016 presidential elections. Thinking I could maybe see some new information on the candidates I had missed I press the small red, white, and blue circle I was accosted by selfies- millennials filling this pseudo-political space with selfish snapshots of what they were doing instead of what was being said by the possible leaders of the free world. In distaste I swipe away from the cesspool of selfishness and saturation of important topics. This supply and demand cycle does nothing but oversaturate media, only the simple, convoluted stories make through the embargo of information. Millennials seem to feel that their self worth is proportional to the amount of followers they have or the likes they can accumulate, so they only follow what they see as hip or cool looking over major problems that affect them directly.
