An issue that is hotly debated is whether colleges should be free or not. Most people think that colleges with free tuition would be better for us, but research actually shows that not having free college would be better. The main reason colleges should not be free is that it would mean higher taxes for both us and the government to pay. They should not be free because students will not take free education seriously. Also, colleges should not be free because then the people who work hard and get into regular college will not have the advantage over people that slack off, but go to free college. They will be considered equal if they apply for the same job with the same degree.
One reason that colleges should not be free is that it would mean higher taxes for us and the government to pay. The most important example of this is that by making tuition free, taxes would be tripled and it is really unrealistic to believe that anyone would pay all that money. Free college is not really free. It just changes who and how people pay for the money. The most important example of this is those who work hard to get a degree won’t have an advantage over those who get the same degree, but don’t work as hard. To clarify, if you pay for a college and work really hard, you get a degree. Then someone that hardly works at all at school attends a free college and gets the same degree you have. If you apply for the same job as the other person, they look just as smart as you do, so you don’t have the advantage of working harder. Another issue is if lots of people are constantly getting the same degrees, then we could run out of that specific job for everyone, and then they would have to try something else, or leave town to find another place to
