The Celebration of Christopher Columbus Columbus Day should not be a celebratory holiday. Columbus does show some excellent qualities, but his Christopher’s voyage is more for selfish reasons than the pursuit of expanding Spain’s territory. This holiday should not be celebrated because his whole journey is to have a respected title in Spain, he killed/enslaved Arawaks and his treatment towards the Arawaks. Americans blind by the untrue facts of Columbus does not make them see the qualities that he actually possesses and the real facts about his expedition and his purpose. Knowing that the Arawaks bear no arms, Columbus still came and attack them. After everything that tribe did for him. When the Santa Maria became shipwrecked the Arawaks help save and treat the passengers with kindness hearts.
