There are innumerable issues in the world, but the one I would march for is the reform of foster care. Foster care has always been difficult, but now, foster care is getting worse for the children. Arizona is what is called a pro-reunification state. This means that the government of Arizona's end goal for a child in the foster program is that the child is back with its biological parents. On paper, this sounds spectacular and it sounds like all ends meet. However, occasionally reunification should not happen. Moreover, now and then the parents don’t genuinely wish to have reunification and don’t try. A plan that is child centered and focuses on what is best for the child. I would march for this as I know a family who fosters a little girl and has since she was born. The little girl was sent back to her biological mother multiple times, and every time she was sent back to her foster family by cause of the mother was still not ready. Finally, after 4 emotional years, that family just obtained severance of rights from the biological mother. This is not an acceptable process as the little girl came back every time confused because she didn’t know what to think and it disrupts the attachment process, especially in young children. The Arizona government needs to change this way of fostering to a pro-kid: making the needs and care of the child the ultimate factor. That is the cause I would march
