Miscegenation law is to separate people that are from different heritages, white person can’t marry someone that is African American. While reading this essay I noticed that there actually was miscegenation laws that I didn’t know about. I knew that white men and women could not marry an African American men and women but did not know that it counted in on even more heritages like Native Americans, Chinese, and Japanese. Also, I learned that women pretty much had no rights to the property after their husbands died. Even if they paid for the property while the husband is alive. The courts didn’t even recognized Ophelia Paquet and Fred Paquet marriage.
