There’s a controversial issue sweeping the nation about protesting the National Anthem. Some believe that protesting the national anthem is disrespectful. Those people are wrong. Protesting the anthem is not disrespectful so long as it raises awareness to equality, justice, and police brutality. The reason this protest became such a big issue is because people are starting to kneel during the National Anthem. Some of the players in the NFL kneel during the anthem on national television. This has resulted in arguments and disagreements. The national anthem is a song in which the Americans sing as an honorable tribute to the flag and soldiers who have fought for our country. The American flag represents freedom, liberty, equality, and human rights. This is why people protest against it. Zimmerman claims that Trayvon appeared as a “suspicious person”. George Zimmerman contacted the police to report it. The police ordered Zimmerman to remain in his vehicle and not approach the person. Zimmerman chose to disregards the police orders and approach the individual. Moments later, Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by George. Trayvon’s parents decided to take Zimmerman to court. Zimmerman was proven innocent although there was some evidence to prove him guilty. The Pledge of Allegiance literally reads, “with liberty, and justice for all.” Where was the justice for Trayvon Martin and his family?
