Arguments Against Trophy Hunting

Surprisingly trophy hunting has increased rhino populations in Southern Africa, others feel trophy hunting does not help rhino conservation. This argument has long been debated, if trophy hunting is really beneficial to rhino conservation. In Africa the White and Black rhino populations were at a low with White rhino at only 1,800 and Black rhinos at about 1,000, they have now increased with trophy-hunting in the area to 20,000 White rhinos and almost 4,000 Black rhinos. (Emslie and Knight 1) Since trophy hunting was started in the 1800’s, the supporters believe that trophy hunting benefits conservation. However, the critics say trophy hunting is cruel and does not help conservation.
