Constructing good arguments involve considering the audience to which the argument is being presented as well as how it is communicated to the audience. Aristotle’s Rhetorical Triangle Model illustrates this through its key ideas of ethos, logos and pathos, their effective use together allowing the formation of a persuasive argument. This model suggests that the art of rhetoric, persuasively presenting an argument to effectively inform or influence audiences, can be achieved through having credibility as the presenter of the argument (ethos), constructing the argument to appeal to listeners’ logic (logos) and also making an appeal to the emotions of the listener (pathos).
