During my visit to the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, I was able to go through many different time periods from Ancient Egypt and Asia pottery to Pablo Picasso’s artworks in the 1960’s. It was such a huge place with multiple exhibits to explore that anyone visiting is guaranteed to find something of interest. There were abstract paintings, photography that an artist took during World War 2, interactive projectors, and much more. Riding up a steep escalator to the second floor, I found myself immersed in a section with various paintings of different sizes and focal points. I imagine how it would be like walking down the road and looking up at the tall trees that surround me. The medium of the work is oil on canvas and it is clear to see that on some places the surface was rough because of layering paint. Every inch of the canvas seems to be covered except for little white spaces that are scattered on some areas as if it were a finger painted piece and the artist didn’t go over it. This helps the add to the feeling of the work that it is not very precise but instead expresses the artist’s feelings in the moment. No one's thoughts would be exactly perfect and tidy, the overall feeling is busy with many activities and colors going on. Looking into detail on specific areas, I can see a man holding a vase as if he is planning on adding it to the show going on at the area that resembles a stage. On the stage, there are three people that seem like they are practicing for a show as the raised platforms in front of it seem like a good area for people to sit and watch.
