This was a very interesting exhibit, as each of the artwork were handmade. This exhibit has traveled through many places and stopped in Colorado and one thing it talked about the “Slow Looking” system. This exhibition emphasizes the slow making of art by hand and how it is a vital form of knowledge. There are various textiles that were made by seven designers. There are also many fabrics that are used by the designers including, cloth, plastic, and yarn. I will be talking about what I really enjoyed about this exhibit as well as critic the fabrics. With that, talk about what they could improve on the most. Like I said before there were a lot of fabrics that had very bright colors and as well as some earthier tones that made these pieces feel homey. A piece that I really enjoyed was made by Reni Gower, I believe it was the brightest artwork in the room. It caught my attention right away and saw that the designer used acrylic paint to paint the designs and shapes onto the unique canvas. There was art all around the room and the color was calling my name. Like, the piece that had a dress sewn into a quilted looking blanket. The dress content was silk and it was a rich brown color that stood out from the quilt, and not only figuratively stood out, but physically stood out because it was only sewn from the back of the dress. There was a lot of emotion in each piece, you could see that there were passion and creativity put into these pieces that when you walked into the room you felt a certain way and could not stop staring. Some examples were the pieces that had a canvas out of cloth. There seems to be a lot of paint involved into these and with all them there was movement and had extra touches to them.
